- 25 December 2018: Added Bar Below Circle by Caret Splitter which will keep small marbles on track.
- 17 December 2018: Added Circle by Caret Splitter which will hold a bar to keep small marbles on track.
- November 2018: The medium marbles work perfectly (~100% of the time), but the small marbles work 0% of the time. If the small marbles hit the left side, they fall willy nilly. If they hit the right side, they get stuck.
The First Track is made of two bamboo skewers. Its placement bicsects the stage, and guides all the other tracks on the lowest level.
After Francois kicked the stage in place, the First Track supports were put into place by Candy Mama, who slid its supports in like hockey pucks sliding across ice. The Brothers actually placed the First Track before The First Roll.
This piece stands outside the Snake Plate U-Turn Berm. It was placed by Reversible Guy who caught the upper end which G Choppy cut off. That upper end became the Third Placed Outer Spiral Support, on the opposite side of the stage, near the Decorative Walls after the Lowest Small-Medium Splitter
The Caret Splitter sits opposite the (top of the) Triple Splitter. It is the small section of track which spans the end of the medium marble resting point which does not involve the Triple Splitter. I named it Caret Splitter because it is shaped like vaguely like a caret ^. It is actually shaped more like the Japanese character へ, when viewed from the direction the marbles will reach it.
This is not the first support for the Outer Spiral in terms of size or distance from either end of the Outer Spiral. It is the first support that was installed to support the Outer Spiral.
This piece fell from the sky into Reversible Guy’s hand because he needed it at that moment to add the Backplate for the Caret Splitter. To get it to fall from the sky I had to think of a reasonable explanation. There is a scene that explains it, but that scene will only be available on the DVD (or to Patreon patrons).
The bearing is actually just a convenience for me, but has become a somewhat important part of the movie of the Marble Track 3 construction.
The first time I tried to create a stop motion animation of a marble track, I had no way to easily reach the back side of the track, which made it difficult to manipulate things without it being obvious that things had moved.
With the bearing, it’s not just obvious that things moved, it’s usually required that the stage moves each frame!
In the movie, the bearing is controlled by the radio transmitter, and acted as a helicopter when it was first introduced.
The Little Wiggly Track will catch small marbles that come out of the Triple Splitter. Above shows a side view.
Here is the top view.
The Lower Zig Zag currently has a zig and a zag. I had planned to make it have 3 or 4 zigs and zags, but there simply was not room to have that many back and forth tracks in the vertical space.
2018 Sep: planning the Lower Zig Zag:
From the top, it will appear in a very narrow zone.
From the side, it will look like this:
The outer spiral hasn’t fully been created. I have created the demo Outer Spiral, shown in the image. The plan is for the real outer spiral to pass large and medium marbles onto the triple splitter, without affecting any of the track below.
I want the large and medium marbles to roll smoothly around the entire track at least once, and possibly twice, but I will probably prefer to make the continuation of this track curve smoothly inside the middle area of Marble Track 3 instead.
